Dive in. Or dip your toe in. It’s a fitness and water wonderland.

Make a splash at our Aquatic & Wellness Center.

Water you waiting for? Okay, pool puns are done. We got excited because our Aquatic & Wellness Center facilities are so sweet. Your inner child might beg you to do a belly flop in the lap pool. Note that for safety reasons, belly flops are not encouraged—but they are also not prohibited. You can always hit the whirlpool spa after to recover.

Seek deeper wellness in all six dimensions.

As a little refresher, the six dimensions of wellness at Capitol Lakes are physical, intellectual, spiritual, social, emotional, and occupational. You may think the Aquatic & Wellness Center is all about physical wellness. But you’ll find these facilities do a lot more than make you more buff. You’ll bond with your friends, get your heart beating faster, and find a special mental clarity that only comes through movement. Some people find that practicing yoga and even walking briskly are spiritual experiences. Don’t knock it till you try it. Here are some ways to practice each dimension of wellness at Capitol Lakes:

Physical: Keep that body moving by walking through downtown Madison, swimming at our pool, taking yoga or other fitness classes, or working with a personal trainer.

Intellectual: Living on the edge of the University of Wisconsin campus means your mind will stay engaged. Enjoy all the cultural, academic, and arts experiences you could ever want.

Spiritual: We are welcoming to all religions. Attend our regularly scheduled services for Christian and Jewish faiths, or stop in for more general meditation services.

Social: Your calendar will get booked up pretty quickly when you live here. There’s always something fun to do, including day-trips, game nights, and evening outings.

Emotional: Belonging to an active, welcoming community means you’ll live among friends. Your new neighbors will make sure you don’t feel like the new kid for long.

Occupational: Spend your free time volunteering in the downtown Madison community. You can contribute to important causes and make a meaningful difference.

Why should I care that there’s a pool?

First of all, it’s two pools. Plus a whirlpool. And they aren’t just any pools. They’re state-of-the-art indoor pools—perfect for cold, snowy Wisconsin winter days. So basically, they’re the best pools we could possibly build, designed just for you! Studies show that swimming is one of the best forms of exercise—especially if you’re trying to bounce back from an injury or surgery. It’s great for arthritis treatment, too. Achy joints love the water.

Another plus: You and your new besties can take water aerobics classes together. The instructors are funny and will push you to be your best. After class, you have to try out that whirlpool spa. It’s relaxation at its finest.

Important note: Our two pools and spa have graduated stairs for easy entry and exit. Both pools are also wheelchair-friendly. Our lap pool has a chair lift for easy access, and our therapy pool has a ramp entry.

If swimming isn’t your thing, we’ve got plenty of other options for you. A darn-near Olympic-level cardio fitness studio, a weight room, and specialty fitness classes that will keep you movin’, groovin’, and forever improvin’.
